How to Improve Your Commute by Car

 In Star Tech News

Commuting to work is something we all have to do. Some choose cycling, others live within walking distance of their workplace. However, many people commute by car and it’s not uncommon to hear these commuters complaining about traffic etc! Our MD, Matt, has some tips to improve your commute by car and make the journey less stressful.

Listen to your favourite music

One way to improve your commute by car is with music. Music is a big part of my daily commute. You’ll usually find me listening to Alabama Shakes. The right music helps me get in the perfect mood for the day. We’ve always got the radio playing in the garage, but some workplaces won’t allow music playing, so your commute might be the only time during the day that you can listen to your favourite tunes.

Plan your journey to avoid traffic (especially in Bournemouth and Poole!)

Roadworks are everywhere, especially in my commute through the Bournemouth and Poole area. As you know, where roadworks are, traffic follows, and traffic is the biggest bugbear of my commute to work. Modern Satnav’s will usually highlight where traffic is and give you an alternative route which is quicker with less queues.

Avoid the rush

If you work in a 9-5 job, you would have experienced the rush hour traffic before and after these hours. Employers are now becoming more flexible with work patterns and allowing people to work out of the standard 9-5 hours. For example, you could ask that you work 8-4 or 7-3 in order to beat the rush hour traffic.

Switch up your route

When I’m driving to work, I like to switch up my route – not to avoid the traffic – but to have a varied journey to work. Otherwise, I’ll be doing the same old journey at least 10 times a week. Having a bit of a varied route stops me from getting bored of the same scenery.

Ensure your car is in top shape
